Modern Cinematic Ambient music is a very unique genre, it contains several styles at once. For a year and a half, Wavelet Audio’s goal was to create an audio tool that allows you to control all aspects of writing this kind of music.

Before creating “Senfine”, Wavelet Audio explored the virtual instruments market trying to find alternative ways to create a unique high-quality collection of sounds that would stand out from anything else.

They decided to combine all the tools into one sample library which features a collection of deeply sampled instruments in Cinematic Ambient and Post-rock genres. They aimed to design a hi-end ready to use tool to expand your creativity at an affordable price.

Overview

Generally speaking, there are three types of “Senfine” library engines: Piano & Synth engines, Guitar type engines and the Drums engine. The “Senfine” user interface is divided into zones, each containing controls of the same class:

Default button – sets the whole engine to default settings turning off all LFO’s, Macros etc. This allows you to start from scratch on a sound using your own plugins instead of using Wavelet Audio’s preconfigured ones.
Special Controls – independently available depending on what instrument you use, includes Glide, Pitch bend, Soft, Hammers, Noise, Tail and Slide.
Global ADSR Controls
LFO Zone – The “Senfine” engine contains one of the most flexible LFO systems available. You can link almost any control to an LFO or Macro.
Macro XY Pad zone – “Senfine” comes with two assignable Macros, you can manipulate both of these with the Macro XY Pad.
Central Controls – Macro Knobs, Limiter, Stereo.
Atmosphere Designer zone – This feature takes the incoming sound, blurring and transforming it into pure ambience.
Global Filter – Lag, Filter Type, Velocity Link, Key Link.

Intuitively Redefine & Shape Your Sound With The Built-in Filters & Effects!

Wavelet Audio have designed and built a powerful engine for the “Senfine” library from scratch. As programmers and private library developers they decided to add a variety of unique and high-class tools such as an Equalizer with graphical representation inside the GUI, Atmosphere Designer, all-controls related Macros and LFOs and much more.

The instrument features a highly intuitive interface, which allows the user to shape the sound much further making deep and rich sonic architecture. Basically, you don’t need to read the manual to use the library, but we highly recommend you to do that if you want to learn all the possibilities of the engine.

Master Filter

This is located almost at the very end of the effects chain but before the limiter and (sometimes) space / send effects. There are three filter modes; Lowpass, Bandpass and Highpass, and three controls:

Lag – Controls the speed a filter is applied. Especially useful with Key. Link and Vel. Link.
Vel. Link – The filter knob depends on the note velocity values. An especially useful function for fast arpeggio parts.
Key. Link – The filter knob depends on the key position of the note that was played. Great for playing drones or pads with a bandpass filter.

FX Rack & Space FXs

The “Senfine” engine contains six FX Rack effects plus two Space (send) effects:

FX RACK – Guitar cabinet, Skreamer, Saturator, Compressor, Distortion, Chorus

SPACE EFFECTS – Convolution Reverb, Delay

Equalizer

This built-in equalizer comes with up to three controllable bands with controls for Frequency, Width and Gain.

Drums

“Senfine” comes with fully recorded and edited drums, mixed and processed in such a way as to fully comply with the other “Senfine” library tools. These drums were recorded with 14 mics which you can control and use as you see fit, other controls include:

4 Effects – with independent settings for all mics
Mic Pan control knobs
Master Volume Control
Solo/Mute buttons – for each microphone
Ambience Setting – this adds reverberation/space to the instrument

Key Mapping

Here you will find the various controls for customising the key mapping for the drum instrument, by default this follows the General MIDI Percussion keymap:

Articulation Mapping Value – Map a particular sound to a keyboard note of your choice.
Key’s Colour – Define the colour coding of your keyboard mapping.
Disable Articulation – Allows you to disable and unload an instrument.
