So How Does It Work?

Drum Designer contains 4 instruments: KICK, SNARE, CLAP and CYMBAL.

KIT groups these instruments into one instance including a sequencer, quick controls and bus effects. KICK, SNARE, CLAP and CYMBAL can be loaded as single instruments ideal for designing single hits. A Multiple Output version for KIT is also available.

Kick

By dividing bass drum sound into two Sections, Body and Tone, Kick Designer allows you to select each sound of each component and individually adjust its tonal pitch, gain, pan, keyboard tracking as well as the high-pass and low-pass filters.

You can change the signal phase so that it aligns perfectly and even extend the duration of a sound component, which sample banks do not do. Use the Tone Amp editor to draw your own envelopes and smooth them according to your needs.

Snare

Add two separate noise layers to the Body and Tone components, each with the same level of control. Noise components are capable of generating room sounds, ramps, and concise attacks to accentuate transients.

Use the Tone editor to create unique pitch and amplitude envelopes, then change the waveform, phase, and sound width.

Clap

The traditional clap sound here is divided into three powerful elements called “shots” and a layer of noise. Configure sound samples for each shot, then edit them down to the smallest detail with available step editors to process timbre, duration, gain, panning, and pitch.

This engine allows you to design new clap sounds almost instantly. Configure the three shot layers, activate the chaining of the sound layers and then use the Prev/Next buttons to obtain completely new results. Use the ‘Humanize’ control to generate slight variations each time you trigger.

Cymbal

2 splendid layers of noise and metallic textures create slight and very natural sound variations with each trigger. The starting phase can also be locked in order to achieve a more traditional sound sample behavior.

The curve of the strikes on the cymbals can also be customized, thus offering the possibility of creating HH Closed, HH Open, Crash, Ride, Shaker, tambourines, percussions… but also enabling reversals, long effects, sweeps, textures and even freeze effects.

Kit

Drum Designer’s ‘Sequencer’ is a powerful instrument all by itself. It gives you access to eight tracks (1 for Kick, 2 for Snare, 1 for Clap and 4 for Cymbals) with volume, pan and pitch sequencers up to eight bars at resolutions up to 1/64.

Quickly control the duration, gain, pan, pitch, and sends of each rhythmic element before applying the finishing touch with bus effects including a compressor, equalizer, delay, and reverb. You can even drag and drop sections to copy them in MIDI to your software sequencer or desktop.
