Boatloads Of Articulations, Techniques & Playing Styles
“Flying Hand Percussion“ was recorded using multiple microphones (up to 3 to choose from on each instrument) with a large selection of articulations including:
- Palm Hits
- Fingers
- Slaps
Multiple instrument zones were recorded (eg. Center, Edge etc.) and traditional Indian playing styles are also included.
Left and Right hand samples are mapped symmetrically (with unique samples for each hand), meaning all instruments sound and respond as if playing a real one – plus it’s simple to learn to play them!
Legato Drumming™ & Special Features
One of the most innovative features of FHP is its Legato Drumming™ Engine which adds real time gestural hand sounds when moving between drums zones (eg. from the center to the edge of a drum), creating an incredible life-like performance.
The newly updated Legato Drumming™ Engine now also includes auto nuance and gesture control including temporary dynamic muting (when playing polyphonically) creating an even more natural sound and realistic sound.
FHP’s interface offers quick access to control over Legato, Cutoff, Resonance, Release and Panning options as well as a large microphone mixing panel allowing you to blend between up to 3 microphone options (Close, Room and Bass Enhancer). Also included are a selection of custom impulse responses to use.
As well as organic instruments, FHP includes the Morphosis menu, which blends processed acoustic sounds with electronics to produce some obviously unnatural effects – perfect for film or TV work and the Mutants menu which are a selection of cinematic sound FX, re-pitched instruments and virtual ensembles.

What People Think About 67% off “Flying Hand Percussion” by Handheld Sound
-
"The overall sound quality is as good as anything I’ve heard and then some. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into Flying Hand Percussion and the results are impressive.
I know of no other percussion library with as much articulation control. While the underlying functionality is complex, playing the sounds in a realistic way is as easy as, well, playing a drum. I also like having a choice of mic position and ambience.
Flying Hand Percussion is the one to reach for when looking for a unique sound. In a sea of imitators, Flying Hand Percussion is a rare gem."

"I have used many samples and libraries in my day and there are only a few that I would describe as "go to." After working with and hearing Flying Hand Percussion I have a new go to percussion library. It's so realistic and seemless you'd never know it wasn't a live player!...If you're serious about sampling, composing, producing, or whatever else you have to have this!"

Great sounds, well recorded, many possibilities. The different drums, rattles, bongos are recorded with different microphones (distances, positions). This makes the possible uses large and flexible. Whether orchestral or a small ensemble, almost anything goes with itAm thrilled!
Line Beate – :
A wide range of percussion Instruments. Really fun to play with! Sounds very realistic to my ears 🙂 Love that there are so many dynamic layers and several round robins – that makes it sound more natural. Thinking this library can be used in differens genres – from ethnic/world music – to electronic music, pop and orchestral music!
Lloyd – :
What a terrific library. Just what I needed for a Reggae project I am working on. The main instruments are very logically laid out on the keyboard so they are very easy to play with a symmetry that is easier to follow than I expected it to be.
Aside from these instruments sounding great and being very expressive, you can really customize them quite a bit with the cut and resonance knobs, and most importantly with the Kontakt TUNE knob. It is really incredible how amazing some of these percussion instruments sound at different pitches. I got something perfect from one of them, adjusting it by +34 (i.e. almost 3 octaves) and it doesn’t sound stretched or unnatural at all… it sounds like another fine acoustic drum that has a high pitch.
If you are hesitating, download the free instruments from their site (especially the Mini Naal) and try it yourself. You will see how many different tones you can get from just one instrument. It’s great stuff!

Handheld Sound “Flying Hand Percussion” is the most detailed percussion library money can buy as of to date, period!
Steve – :
Solid, expansively recorded library of percussion. The sheer number of articulations is overwhelming. It’s the kind of library that you’ll have to do a little bit of practice with to get an authentic sound, but the results are ultra-realistic. I’m planning on looking up what some traditional patterns are for some of the instruments to help achieving a convincing sound.
Konstantinos – :
Another library very useful and good sounding. Its also very easy to use and with super good price. This is my go to percussion library. Thank you!
Joseph – :
hey this is great little app with amazing sounds. i got it for a great price. get it while the price is hot. how long does this review have to be anyways?
Chris – :
The percussion instruments are very responsive and well recorded to this day. These are fun and inspiring to play with. Also, the sample developer is great and recorded many articulations for these ethnic percussion instruments. Hope they make more libraries. One thing I would like to request is that they continue to update this library to make it even better.
Vlad – :
Great number of articulations. For example, they sampled different fingers for applicable drums. I like symmetrical layout. Maybe the word organic is used too often these days, but these percussions really are. I would love to see more articulations for secondary instruments too, but I’m probably just spoiled with the amount for the main ones.
David – :
A really great collection of some obscure and not-so-obscure percussion instruments. Really enjoying fiddling around with combinations. The multiple mic placements and wide dynamic layering and range make this a must-have for the percussion fanatic. Thanks…DIGGIN’ IT!
Cedric – :
very realistic instruments, easy to use. Both in an intimate and epic context. very detailed, everything I need for my percussion.
