So How Does “Amateur Orchestra” Work?
Choose from one of four libraries; percussion, brass, strings and woodwinds. From there, use the arrows or the dropdown menu to browse sounds and use the upper menu to browse character presets to get you started and tweak from there.
Use the ‘loose’ control to randomly delay the start time of samples up to 250ms. Use the ‘detune’ control to randomly detune notes up to .3 semitones. The pitch bend wheel is set for .3 semitones up or down so you can correct for this in real time on long notes if you want the feeling of someone trying to ‘find’ a note.
Other controls are for attack, decay, release, filter, tape sat, and room verb.

Great for indie production! You don’t even really have to commit to an ‘amateur’ sound, you have the ability to adjust the amount of skill. There’s a lot of content here, the sale price is a steal.

This library is charming and quirky in all the right ways. I plan to layer these sounds with those from other orchestral libraries, on certain projects, to add character, liveliness, and whimsy.

Nice library with inspiring, imperfect sounds. The demo from Ink Audio makes the collection seem more versatile than it perhaps is, but there are many sounds full of character here.

A very *good* vst library. Emphasis on good. This library is something I would say is “good” not “great.” It is very niche and fun. Do not expect BBC symphony orchestra. I have found the sounds, particular the strings and the vibraphone, useful for making odd and creepy horror music sounds, which is the kind of music I tend to write. I would say I am completely satisfied receiving this at 77 percent off. If I paid full price, I don’t think I would be as in love with it as I am now. I don’t know if I would consider full price “fair” exactly.

For those of us who spend hours slaving over the articulations, orchestration, expression and dynamics of sample libraries capturing the performances of world class performers – it is a breath of fresh air to arrange music with, well, amateurs. Such a fun library. If you want a quirky, intimate, nice quality all around orchestra, this unique library is exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s not as detailed as some high end libraries with endless articulations, microphone positions, & legato options, but it fills a particular niche for unpolished, but high quality samples. BUY IT!
