3GB Of String Instrument Samples – Endless Manipulation Possibilties
Source Controls
The main section of Vektor contains 4 distinct sources which can be blended together to create unique sounds. Each source has independent controls for EQ, Envelope and Filter accessible by clicking the buttons at the top.
Each source has a master volume slider control along with a power button and a solo button. Next to these are your tuning (+/- 36 semitones) and panning (-100/+100) control – Click and drag to change the values.
Next to these are the Random (Click to randomise the sound source) and the Reverse Buttons (click to play to current sample backwards).
Finally you have the source select dropdown menu containing 116 instruments and below this you have the sample display window which shows the current playing waveform. Drag the Start slider to adjust the start position of the sample.
Movement Page (Source)
The movement panel allows you to dynamically and instantly transform your sound in a number of unique ways. Firstly you can click and drag the white dot inside the Source Movement XY pad to instantly blend between the 4 sound sources.
This allows you to change the volume of each source in a relative manner very quickly. However, you also have access to controls which will change the blend over time. You can choose to blend horizontally or vertically (or both at the same time) or in a circular motion.
You can choose whether the movement should be in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction and you can choose whether the motion should be in sync with your DAWs tempo or free-running.
Movement Page (Filters)
The movement panel also allows you to control the filter frequency and resonance of each source independently or together. Subtle filter sweeps can be achieved with ease as well as complex ones.
- Speed – the speed at which the XY Pad will cycle through the blend motion
- Depth – this controls how far the XY Pad will move in the chosen direction
- Smooth – this controls how smoothly the XY Pad will cycle through the motion
- Retrig – dictates whether the movement should start again whenever a new key is pressed
- Rate – controls for Cutoff, Resonance and Drive. Choose from 16 filter types
- Sync – sync the motion with your DAW tempo
Import Your Own Samples & Add Effects For A Truly Original Sound
Modulation Page
The Modulation Panel gives you everything you need to create dynamic movements and modulation to your sounds. There are 4 LFOs and 4 Envelopes and each one can be assigned to a multitude of different controls.
Effects Page
The Effects Panel contains 9 powerful effects that operate on a global basis including: Chorus, Distortion, Spatial, Phasis, Flair, Convolution, Filter, Replika delay and Lofi.
Import Your Own Samples
Vektor comes with an innovative and easy to use drag and drop function.
Simply drag and drop your chosen sample into the source window, and it automaps the sample into that source. It’s that easy.
Randomisation
Nearly every element of Vektor can be randomised in creative ways. Simply open up the randomisation page and select the elements you want to randomise by ticking the boxes. You can randomise:
- Source Voices: Will just randomise with sample is loaded to each source
- Source Filters: Will randomise all 4 source filter types and settings
- All Sources: Will randomise all source samples and filters
- XY Motion: Will randomise the settings and position of the XY source panel
- XY Filter: Will randomise the settings and position of the XY filter panel
- Modulation: Will randomise the settings on the modulation page
- Effects: Will randomise the settings on the effects page
- Everything: Will randomise all of the above at the same time

Alfredo – :
Good UI, many options, easy to install, good sound, well, and excellent product. I have a lote of plugins, but this one is coming now in the top ten, thanks
Quetzal – :
I bought it for the powerful engine and the opportunity to input your sound and create easily amazing motion, but this library has also great evo sounds, so it is easy to compose out of the box. I am a strings addicted composer and I already have a lot (a lot…) of first quality strings library, but this is a very creative and enjoyable music tool.
Anthony – :
I appreciate Kontakt instruments that go the extra mile and provide easy-to-use utilitarian functionality. With Nova’s Vektor, this functionality presents in the form of auto-mapping an audio file that is dragged & dropped into Vektor when the file name conforms to a standard naming convention. This removes the tedium of handling this manually within the Kontakt engine. A second very nice feature is the loop GUI implementation. The designer took care to make a clear visual distinction between a sample’s start/end points and a sample’s start/end loop points. Nicely done. Last, I appreciate the randomization feature. I would have scored this review a “10” if this feature was a bit more robust. Still, it’s nice to have any randomization capability. Often times, I use randomization features in plugins to seed ideas that take me in directions I would not have ordinarily thought to go. Well done, Nova. Keep up the great work!
Peter – :
At full price this is a great string texture library full of inspiration for use in all genres. On sale its a steal !!
Jade – :
I really like this software.
I thought it was pretty amazing to be honest.
Not to mention the low price.
Endless possibilities !
Doug – :
Pretty good stuff. Reminds me a lot of Rigid Audio libraries. I really like the fact that you can drag and drop your own samples to make new instruments.
Andrzej – :
In general, the versatility of samples is limited – it’s a library is based on effects which you can apply to sound and create interesting drones.
A lot of nice, but also limited presets.
For this price a lot of good stuff.
Dave – :
An interesting product with tons of capability – I love the filter and source movement components – and all of the controls are laid out ery well – super intuitive to use!
Cedric – :
I was impressed by the youtube “demo”, and when I got the product I could easily reproduce the sounds I heard.
Really nice to add movement and life to simple strings part. I only scratched the surface but I already love using it in layers with my more conventional strings.
Steven – :
A useful and original set of sounds. A simple GUI that is simple and intuitive to use – it’s also easy to create your own sounds.
Well worth the money, and a no brainer when on sale.
Baptiste – :
Limited presets but worth the value on sale ! Nice GUI, you can made your own sounds, well, a nice to have.
Sheldon – :
The sounds of Vector are great and beautiful. The snapshots provided are useful, and I love the randomize feature!
James – :
Pretty straightforward – very usable (and novel) sounds for less money than any string library out there (of any quality). If I use it twice its an amazing bargain.
Laurent – :
Excellent deal for this price!
Interesting textures and engine.
Nice atmospheres. I don’t regret my purchase.
Joe – :
I looked at a lot of youtube vids. Looked like a good product. I ended up seeing it on another site for 99.00 dollars so I thought I better get it before the deal expires before its gone. For 19 euros figured I couldn’t go wrong with what I seen.
Bruno – :
Fantastic sounds, great for string textures, absolute steal at the current promo. Cello articulations have been amazingly chosen and performed and compliment other textural string libraries very nicely, it’s amazing how expressive they are considering how light the package is. Amazing library.
Aleksej – :
Vektor is very good for Sound Design. The possibilities are endless. I like the randomization function.
George – :
Got it by curiosity mostly but was amazed… Can do much great stuff with it .. as a deal is price makes it an even great one…
Bastian – :
A great product, highly useful. Amazing UI design. A must have at this price point!
Chris – :
Love the sound of strings in this library. Great for layering with the usual ones that I use all the time to give the strings sound more movement and personality. Other sounds in this collection is a bonus.
Graham – :
The interface is excellent and easy to use and there’s lots of presets, but by the time you’ve combined 4 sample layers there’s a danger that the end result always sounds very similar. However, there’s no need to use all 4 slots, and you can take advantage of the differences in the sound samples provided (or even your own imported samples) by using fewer layers. I bought Vektor to help provide some movement to otherwise static sustained sounds, particularly in orchestral hybrid compositions. My early efforts have not worked as well as I’d hoped but that’s probably the operator rather than Vektor. I hope to be more successful in future attempts. There’s really no grumbling for the heavily discounted price though (78% off!).
Dominique – :
Great strings, nice GUI, but it isn’t the best for me 🙁 because it sound a bit harsh and really specialized in strings
Joe – :
Great instruments for combining loops with different vibes! Good collection of loops plus you can use you own. Modify them, make them gritty… The combinations are endless! Great purchase!
Darcey – :
UI has some lag issues here and there, but you can get some great sounds of this thing, and you can load up your own sounds also, very nice and was a good deal.
Kenneth – :
I love the sound and features of this product! The depth and motion it adds to my fairly static string libraries is enormous. The sample manipulation capabilities, along with the ability to import my own samples are icing on the cake! It’s a steal, especially at the sale price!
Steven – :
Really nice instrument. Strings sound great and you can import your own samples to create your own sounds.
Daniel – :
7.5! Ha! So anyway the snapshots need to be loaded manually to show up in the Kontakt drop down dialogue which is a pain. The orch patches are useful for fx articulations, but the real fun is how easy it is to drop in your own samples in one or all of the 4 players and quickly hybridize a sound and save as a snapshot… the instrument is easy to experiment and play. Not super deep synthesis on surface but useful, quick and even randomize part or all sections.
Charlie – :
Outstanding for the price — the layering of modulation-friendly sounds reminds me a bit of Bioscape — the included sounds here are more limited in scope (and the modulation options are quite a bit different), but you can import your own samples, which can provide some really fun and unique results. Definitely an interesting and easy-to-use creative tool, for a really good price.
