So What Makes This Emulation Of The Minimoog® So Special?
Mini
Firstly, on the Mini level you have all the features and sounds of the Model D® including accurate waveforms, a painstakingly accurate resonant filter, snappy ADS envelope generators and the wonderful Mini loop-feedback function. Using just these parameters, Minimonsta has a huge tonal range from fat to fierce and from searing to sharp sizzles. However, there is also another dark side to the beast, and it’s here where you can unleash a full-on Monsta.
Monsta
Instead of being shackled to a single LFO as per the original instrument, it’s possible to assign an LFO to almost any original Mini parameter including filter cutoff, resonance, individual oscillator volumes, even each envelope parameter. What’s more, each LFO has several waveforms, sync, and delay options from which to choose. Additionally, for every parameter to which you can apply an LFO, it’s also possible to apply an extra ADSR.
Finally, there’s also the ability to assign MIDI modulation to any original Mini parameter and create effects such as dynamic glide times or velocity response to filter (both positive and negative). Put simply, the scope for sound design and sonic creativity is limitless.
Melohman
And if the above isn’t enough, you can also dynamically morph between twelve patches within a Meta-patch thanks to the unique Melohman octave. This takes a static software instrument and adds serious performance and dynamic real-time control possibilities – a boon to those real players out there who want to add life into their performances while remaining in constant contact with the keyboard.
Minimonsta contains 500+ Meta-patches. Each Meta-patch is comprised of 12 Patches. That’s a total of 6000 factory patches and a ton of inspiration accessible through the Patch Memory Section.
With the extra LFOs, ADSRs, hugely versatile dynamic MIDI control and the Melohman octave you’ll soon realize while there are many Mini clones out there, there is only one true Monsta!
XLFO & XADSR Selection
This section enables you to apply an additional, advanced LFO & XADSR to most panel parameters. When a modulation is applied, a knob’s text lights blue indicating a modulator is applied. With Copy/Paste LFO & XADSR settings can be applied to additional parameters.
Filter Section
The Minimonsta filter was modelled from an early generation Minimoog complete with its own foibles and unique character, and as such it will sound slightly different to other Mini emulations. This is entirely deliberate.
Patch Memory Section
Minimonsta contains 500+ Metapatches. A Metapatch is comprised of 12 Patches. That’s a total of 6000+ Patches accessible from the Patch Memory Section
Oscillator Section
As per the original instrument, three oscillators with selectable waveforms for each provide the starting point for your sound. Oscillators 2 & 3 can be tuned against Oscillator 1 and additionally, Oscillator 3 can function as an LFO.
Controllers Section
Set the global tuning and glide time. Minimonsta’s portamento is Time Constant, which means that glides are faster over larger intervals. When Oscillator 3 is used as an LFO, MOD MIX determines the mix between the oscillator tone and noise.
Mixer Section
This is where the levels of the three oscillators and, if required, a noise generator and/or an external signal are mixed. In this section GForce have also painstakingly recreated a famous Mini trick called the Loop Feedback function.
Midi Mod Section
Minimonsta contains an extensive and highly flexible MIDI Control Section where incoming controller information such as velocity, after-touch, and CCs are assigned to parameters. A full range of MIDI response curves are also available to help tailor your sound to your playing style.
Amp Envelope
In conjunction with the filter envelope section above, this section provides the amplitude envelope controls allowing you to shape Minimonsta’s sound.
Settings Section
Unlike the original instrument, which was only monophonic, Minimonsta has several additional keyboard modes that are selected via this section.
Delay & Output Sections
Complement your sound with the on-board stereo delay and set the pan position of your output signal. Adding an LFO to Pan or Level can provided sound interesting movement to your sound.
Performance Section
Activate glide, deactivate decay, set pitch bend range or apply pitch or modulation.
Meta-Patch Section
Store and recall the 12 patches contained within a Meta-patch. Each patch within a Meta-patch corresponds to a key within the Melohman Octave (black keys) allowing your to morph between patches in real-time.
Melohman Morph Control
The octave (of black keys) used for real-time morphing between Patches is set here along with morph time.

"Minimonsta, Imposcar and Oddity are my favorite go-to virtual synths – hands down. In the fast pace world of interactive music scoring and sound design for video games, you have endless creative possibilities with this killer suite of plugins."

-
"Minimonsta is an excellent Minimoog emulator that is also capable of sounds undreamt of when Dr Bob and his team were designing the original synth. If it were presented as a hardware instrument, analogue anoraks would drool so long and hard that they would have to be treated for dehydration."

"Minimonsta is another triumph for the GForce team. Its sound is extraordinarily close to that of the original, and it provides programming and performance options that expand the creative possibilities of the Minimoog many times over. The extra LFO and envelope can be applied to nearly all the parameters, and on top of that you have the Meta-Patches. Throw in an extensive library of presets from a selection of venerable sound designers and you've got a highly attractive synth."

Meanwhile I own so many Minimoog based VSTi, I don’t count them anymore. I still don’t regeret buying this one as the latest addition to my collection. Comes with a lot of presets and still sounds gorgeous after all these years, when the plugin was released. This would have been an easy 10-Rating, if the plugin came with a VST3 version. But it didn’t…

Minimonstra is indeed a monster!!! It’s absolutely a copy of what you’d find in the original Moog ….. and I should know ….. I was there 🤣!
Also allow me to compliment you guys on your after sales support. I did something stupid while installing the software but Terry, your after sales support guy was so tolerant of my stupidity he deserves a meddle …………
Look forward to more great products,
Best ,
Ben

I’ve heard about the Minimonsta for years and always wanted one. Well, through this deal, I finally acquired one, and I love it!!! Actual Minimoog sounds throughout, as well as a ton of non-Minimoog sounds that I love!!!!
I’m so glad I caught this sale!!!!!

First thing first: Minimonsta sounds great! Not only in general, but also in comparison to another Mini-Moog emulator I have, the Mini-V by Arturia. GForce mentions in their manual that they took a particularly characterful model as base for their emulation(not all were created equal), and it shows. When trying to replicate a bass drone patch on the other emulator, it couldn’t replicate the rich, full bass of the Minimonsta.
Reason seems to be the particular filter they emulated – and boy is it quirky. Aside from the rich bass it also does to have extreme resonance. No matter how far up I turn the filter resonance in the Mini-V, it is always “bearable.” Not so the Minimonsta! It whails and whistles and you can hurt your ears with it. Everything about this filter seems to be more extreme.
There is slightly misleading marketing. There are no 6000 patches, depending on how you define it. There are 500 – each allowing you to switch through 12 variations as a “meta-patch.” Some have the filter more open or other variations on the same basic sound. You can use the keyboard to fluently switch between these twelve variations, allowing them to integrate well into playing. This is of course true for all patches you make as well. And it’s not just straightforward switching between similar presets – the “Melohman Octave” offers various modes of morphing between presets to increase expressiveness of the overall instrument. Impressive idea!
Speaking about extending the capabilities beyond the original – almost all parameters on the Minimonsta can be modulated in a unique way – because each has their own independent LFO and xADSR envelope – that’s a massive amount of modulation! (The original Mini-Moog had to sacrifice the third oscillator to have a single LFO in comparison.) MIDI is handled in a similar way. This could become highly confusing, so the GUI highlights knobs that have modulation on them with light blue and those with MIDI impact in red. So if keyboard velocity impacts your volume knob, you will see that. Very straightforward!
One of the downsides of the Minimonsta is however still the GUI. It looks very dated, and as far as I can see can’t be scaled. Similarly, the plugin is still VST2. (VST3 is often associated with GUI scaling and more easy scanning by your DAW, etc.) It could use a facelift. The decision to make the patch selection, LFO, MIDI, and other additional parts to look like cheap old LCD displays is… weird. In comparison, Arturia made new parts look new – and it’s better (and can be hidden).
Also, while far from being useless, the manual is still not really up to the standards set by manufacturers as Arturia or Native Instruments.
Another minor issue I had in Live: Configuring a parameter for automation gives you ALL parameters… that’s dozens cluttering your interface and many have similar abbreviated labels. It’s good they do have labels and are accessible (not true for all VST manufacturers), but this is also not ideal.
All in all, I recommend it. It sounds great, it’s easy enough to use, plenty of patches, and the documentation is good enough to make good use of it. The added features are a delight, making a good classic synth into a veritable powerhouse.
